You've tried learning to draw before.
Here's why it didn't stick.
Passive watching
YouTube tutorials where you watch someone draw but never improve because there's no feedback on your sketches.
Gamification overload
Apps that feel like Duolingo for drawing โ streaks, XP, badges โ when what you needed was a real teacher.
Course overwhelm
Skillshare courses that go from "beginner" to "professional" in 40 hours. You stop at lesson 3.
A drawing teacher
who texts you back.
Markday gives you a short, focused lesson every day. Upload your sketch. Get specific, warm feedback from AI trained on thousands of real drawing critiques โ not a bot score.
- โLessons under 10 minutes โ build the habit first
- โAI reads YOUR sketch โ not a generic tip engine
- โCurriculum that builds: gesture โ shading โ form โ composition
โYour line confidence is improving on the long strokes โ I can see you held the pencil more loosely. Work on the short hatching lines in the shadow zones.โ

Lesson 04 โ Gesture Drawing: The Spine Line
Objective: Capture the core movement of a pose in a single flowing line.
Instructions
- 1.Find a reference pose (photo or mirror). Look at the overall flow of the body from head to feet.
- 2.Without lifting your pencil, draw one continuous curved line that captures the main movement โ the 'spine' of the pose.
- 3.Repeat 5 times with different poses. Each sketch should take under 60 seconds.
